Just Give Me Jesus revival is coming

Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of evangelist Billy Graham, will have a Just Give Me Jesus revival event Friday and Saturday at the James Brown Arena, 601 Seventh St., Augusta.

Lotz, founder of AnGeL Ministries, will speak and share what she’s learned about God’s word. The event will also feature Babbie Mason, a singer-songwriter, author and TV show host; Fernando Ortega, a singer-songwriter; and Sheila Bailey, founder of Sheila B. Ministries.

Friday’s activities will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday’s event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Those who are unable to attend can listen to the revival live at WAFJ 88.3 FM or online at wafj.com.

Film and Food for
a Cause is Sunday

The ninth annual Film and Food for a Cause will be held Sunday.

The event, sponsored by the Georgia Theatre Company, raises money for the United Way of Augusta, American Red Cross of Augusta and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the CSRA.

With an advance ticket from Evans Cinemas or Masters Value Cinemas, customers will receive admission to the film of their choice on Sunday, a popcorn and soft drink combo, and coupons from participating restaurants.

Advance tickets are $12 from Evans Cinemas, 4365 Towne Center Drive, Evans and $6 from Masters Value Cinemas, 2824 Washington Road, Augusta.

All regular ticket and concession purchases made at Evans Cinema and Masters Value Cinemas on the day of the event will also benefit the nonprofit organizations.

Last year, the event raised $24,000 for the three organizations.

Pageant entry deadline nearing

The Miss Western Carolina State Fair Pageant will be held Oct. 13 and deadline to enter is Oct. 8.

Each participant will receive a tiara. Cost is $55 for all events.

Wine and art

Aiken Center for the Arts' 2012 Lucky 13th Taste of Wine & Art will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 18.

More than 23 of Aiken's restaurants and caterers will participate.

Tickets are $53 per person or $50 for center members.

In addition to the event, Art of Taste will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 with author and TV show cook Nathalie Dupree. Tickets are $12 per person or $10 for center members.

Knitting class registration

Registration for an intermediate knitting class at Harrison-Caver Park in Clearwater continues through Friday.

Classes will be held Oct. 2, 9 and 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and are $55, which includes materials. Each participant will knit a shawl.

Local named American Legion national vice commander for Southeast

James Holland, a retired Army officer from Aiken and member of The American Legion Post 212, was elected as national vice commander for the Southeast.

Holland was the South Carolina commander in 2008-09 and walked 332 miles across the state to raise money for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship fund, according to a news release.
