NASCAR racer will help raise money for charity

Posted: August 29, 2012 - 10:35am

The Nationwide NASCAR series Chevy Impala race car will be on display in the Lowe’s parking lot today for the community to view.

The event, sponsored by the Matt Nieman Insurance Agency, will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes a race car simulator, games, giveaways, hot dogs and chips, and possibly a jingle contest, said Kim Gosney, the general manager for Nieman’s office.

There will be photo opportunities with the race car with full-size cutouts of Danica Patrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr., according to a news release.

Gosney said Nationwide likes to have a presence in the community and they were lucky to be able to get the race car between races.

“It is coming from a race then heading over to the Atlanta area for the next race,” she said.

Nieman will also hold Quote for a Cause and donate $5 to Golden Harvest Food Bank for every eligible quote.

“They don’t have to buy, just have to give us the opportunity to quote it,” Gosney said, referring to quotes for different types of insurance.

Gosney said they are hoping to draw a big crowd to be able to help the food bank.

“We would like to see us raise $500,” she said.

Canned goods can be donated at the event for Golden Harvest, but they are not required, Gosney said.

The free event is being held at the North Augusta location of Lowe’s on Knox Avenue.
