Dear Editor,

As I have been trying to ask the taxpayers to acknowledge the ridiculously high salaries of public employees, I remembered that President Nixon imposed a 90-day freeze on all wages and prices to help the economy recover.

With federal, state, county, local and school bureaucrats making more in salaries than some governors and U.S. Congressmen, I truly believe that it is well past time to impose this wage and price freeze again for the taxpayers’ sake! There is absolutely no rational reason why these overpaid public employees continue to receive salary raises when these unneeded and undeserved raises must be paid by the taxpayers.

I view such unnecessary salary increases as “taxation without representation” when only a very, very few politicians get the only say as to approving these ridiculously high salaries. These salaries must be frozen, and in all financial frugality and responsible stewards of our tax dollars, must be reduced when these very same taxes should be going toward repairing this country’s crumbling infrastructure and school buildings.

We, as the taxpayers, and in reality, the payers of these ridiculously high salaries, need to band together to stop these constant salary increases.

Timothy ( Tim ) Monroe Bledsoe,

North Augusta

Ummm Tim,
Might help if you were up on current events. All Federal wages have been frozen for the past two years. Additionally looks like no pay raise for the upcoming year either.
