Vehicles egged


North Augusta Public Safety officers searched for people who egged vehicles near Dove Street early in the morning of July 2.


According to an incident report, officers were called to the 400 block of Dove Street around 2 a.m. after two vehicles were egged.


Later, officers were called to Hugh Street, where two more vehicles had been hit by eggs.


One witness attempted to follow the suspect’s vehicle while the occupants continued to toss eggs at the witness’ car.


 


Woman reports assault at store


A 41-year-old woman contacted police after she was grabbed and pinched on the breast by a man on the cleaning aisle of Walmart on July 2.


The woman said the man had been following her around the store prior to the incident around 11 p.m., according to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report.


Security at the store informed her a similar incident had occurred two hours prior.


 


Intoxicated man naps on sidewalk


A Family Dollar employee discovered an intoxicated man sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the Martintown Road business after arriving to work July 3.


According to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report, John Mitchell Syms, 44, of Larry Dee Street, was issued a citation for public drunkenness.


 


Drunk man enraged after being denied alcohol at store


An Augusta man became enraged and threatened a convenience store clerk July 4 after the store refused to let him purchase alcohol.


According to a North  Augusta Public Safety incident report, Dennis Detoney Drayton, 53, entered  Greg’s Gas Plus, 10258 Atomic Road, around 10:45 p.m. and began harassing  customers.


Drayton left the  store at the request of employees, but he returned 20 minutes later and  attempted to purchase alcohol. Clerks told officers the man was denied the  purchase because he was already intoxicated.


Police said the man  became enraged, threw beer on the floor and threatened to kill a female  clerk.


Officers located  Drayton, who said, “I have had too much to drink.”


He was issued a  citation for public drunk and a trespass notice.


 


Apartment shootings under investigation


A 19-year-old was shot in the abdomen at North Augusta Garden apartments Friday morning.


According to a news release, officers were called to the apartment complex on Hugh Street for reported gunshots around 12:20 a.m.


A man at the complex told authorities he heard four to five shots and then saw a man walking around bleeding.


Officers spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Georgia Avenue and found the victim, Isiah Keiron Rouzan, inside.


Rouzan was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.


Police have not said if the shooting is related to another shooting in the parking lot at 1:44 a.m. July 3. According to an incident report, officers responded but could not locate any cooperative witnesses.


No injuries were reported in that shooting.
