Girl Scout to hold health event
Olivia Bernard, of North Augusta Girl Scout Troop 5083, is hosting DRIVE4COPD at the Wilson Family Y in Augusta from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
The event is to make people aware of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
According to a news release, 24 million Americans may have the disease and not even be aware of it. At the event, participants can answer questions to see if they may be at risk and take a spirometry test from a respiratory therapist if they are at risk.
There will also be a raffle for a pulse oximeter and a pedometer. The drive is sponsored by Doctors Hospital Augusta and the Wilson Family Y.
Bernard is working toward the Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. She is a rising sophomore at Aquinas High School.
