No strangers to Music in the Park, bluegrass band Split Rail will collectively travel more than 100 miles to perform at the outdoor music series at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Members of the band include: Stanley Elgin, mandolin and tenor; Gene Holdway, guitar and lead singer; Philip Arnold, 5-string banjo and baritone; and Doug Todd, bass and vocals.

‘‘We always love to bring our talent to this area because the audience is so receptive to our kind of music,’’ said Todd, who lives in Belvedere. ‘‘We are, for the most part, traditional bluegrass. We mix in some gospel and it's always well-received.’’

Todd said he enjoys playing close to home because most of the band’s shows are in the upstate of South Carolina or in western North Carolina.
