At Simply Anything Second Hand Store, people can find a little bit of everything.
The shop, owned by Lynn Kimsey and Robert J. Daniel Jr., opened in February at 306 Edgefield Road.
The thrift shop sells a variety of items including appliances, furniture, clothes, electronics, antiques, used DVDs and CDs and other “whatnots,” Kimsey said.
Since they opened, they’ve also sold items that are not typically found in thrift stores,
including a brand new shower and stuff to replace a bathtub.
“That’s why it’s named Simply Anything because you can come in here and simply find anything,” she said.
They also purchase items from people, which are then sold in the thrift store, and they also get items from storage auctions for the thrift store.
Kimsey and Daniel first got into the business by buying items from individuals and then selling it on eBay and through Facebook.
Daniel then suggested that they go to a storage auction.
“We did that for a little more than a month, and it started stacking up everywhere so we said we need to get a store. That way, everyone can just come to us and we’ll have somewhere to store the stuff also,” said Kimsey.
Since opening, they have had many customers become regulars.
Meeting people is Kimsey’s favorite part of running the shop.
“It’s really interesting to meet different people. When you’re doing this business, you’ll meet all kinds of people and it makes you realize how many good people there are in the community,” she said.
Daniel enjoys being an entrepreneur.
“I like owning my own business and running it,” he said.
The co-owners different personalities also help make the business succeed, they said.
“It’s great that we have two different views,” said Kimsey. “He’s the younger generation and I’m the older generation, but I learn just as much from him as he learns from me. I think it makes us a great team.”
