Music in the Park: Sibling String

Posted: June 12, 2012 - 6:22pm  |  Updated: June 20, 2012 - 2:37pm

Sibling String will play at the outdoor Music in the Park series at 7 p.m. Thursday at Maude Edenfield Park.

The group is composed of five friends who have formed a brotherhood, which is how the name of the string band came together, said member Jacob Beltz. Members include: Beltz, vocals and rhythm; Deveran Roof, upright bass; Henry Wynn, fiddle and pedal steel; Dave Mercer, drums and vocals; and Michael Baideme, lead guitar.

“I might say we are a bluegrass influenced rock group with many specks of progressive and experimental twinges,” Beltz said of the music style, adding that the majority of their music is original.

Beltz said the group feels that their biggest accomplishment thus far is the consistency in their fans.

“…People who come to see us always look like they are having a great time,” Beltz said. “We are so thankful to all of our friends…”

Sibling String hopes to put together an EP in the future that they have been working on, Beltz said.

This will be the group’s first performance at the annual Music in the Park series.

“We are always excited to get to know new people and can’t wait to see those who come out,” he said.
