• The Aiken County school district’s 2012-13 budget process has begun, and suggestions and comments are welcome. Visit acps.schoolfusion.us for more information and to submit input. There will be a public input meeting Tuesday. Public hearings for the budget and millage are scheduled for June 12, and the budget will be adopted June 26.

• North Augusta High School classes of 1970 to 1979 will have a reunion from 3 p.m. to midnight Nov. 10 at The Hippodrome. Bobby’s Bar-B-Q will cater the event, and music will be by The Unmentionables. Cost is $50 per person or $85 per couple through July 1. After July 1, cost is $65 per person or $100 per couple. Checks should be made payable to NASH Class Reunion and mailed to Teresa Bishop Lee, 568 Ansley Way, Evans, GA 30809. Please include on the check the year of graduation and your full name. • The Summer Nuclear Workforce Experience will be held June 18 to July 27 at Aiken Technical College for 2012 high school graduates. If interested in learning and earning money at the same time, call April Tomkinson at (803) 649-7981.

• The next Area I Advisory Council meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. June 7 at 105 Gator Lane, behind the entrance to Aiken Middle.

 

• Medications need to be picked up from the nurse’s office by Thursday.

• Registration will be held as follows: July 31, noon to 6 p.m.; and Aug. 1, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Please bring birth certificate, South Carolina immunization record and proof of residency, such as an electric or water bill.

• School begins Aug. 20. The school will open at 7 a.m. for breakfast, which is served until 7:20 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 7:30 a.m.

• Beginning July 1, parents can apply for free or reduced lunch at www.lunchapplication.com.

• Box Tops, Campbell’s soup labels, My Coke Rewards, Tyson chicken labels, used ink cartridges and recyclable cellphones are being collected.

• No lunch will be served through Friday. However, the pantry will be open.

• Students will be dismissed at noon Thursday and Friday.

• The exam schedule for underclassmen is as follows: Today: 8-9:30 a.m., fourth period and 9:35-11:05 a.m., fifth period; Thursday: 8-9:55 a.m., second period; and 10:05 a.m. to noon, third period; and Friday: 8-10 a.m. first period.

• Graduation is at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sweetwater Baptist Church.

• The last day of school is Friday.

• Registration is open for the 2012-13 school year.

• The next board of directors meeting is at 6 p.m. June 30 in the school’s conference room.

• Upcoming testing dates: ACT, June 9.

• Mrs. Franklin’s class won the Box Tops collection with 4,607 points. Runner-ups are: Ms. Turner’s class with 3,185 points and Ms. Cameron’s class with 2,721 points. Mrs. Franklin’s class will be treated to a pizza party with Ms. Vaughan and Ms. Brown. The total raised this year through the Box Tops program is $5,194.

• Perfect attendance certificates will be given to pupils who have been present each day this school year and have accumulated 10 tardies or less. If your child has perfect attendance and you are unsure of the number of tardies they have, contact the school office.

• Registration cards for the 2012-13 school year have been sent home with pupils in 4K through fourth grade. Parents are asked to complete the registration card and return it along with a copy of current proof of residency, such as a power or water bill, lease agreement or sales contract. The document will be kept and not returned.

• Parents are asked to send in payment or contact the school if their child has any unpaid fees, including lunchroom fees. If your child is currently on free lunch, any previous balances will still need to be paid.

• Check the lost and found closet for any lost clothing or items. Items not claimed by 11 a.m. Thursday will be donated to charity.

• Any daily medication your child takes at school should be picked up by 11 a.m. Thursday. Any medication remaining after that time will be destroyed.

• The end-of-the-year program for Holloway will be held 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

• The fifth-grade award ceremony is at 8 a.m. today.

• Today and Thursday are half days. Pupils will be dismissed at 11 a.m. each day.

• End-of-the-year parties will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

• In celebration of the school’s 60th anniversary, the School Improvement Council and the Parent Teacher Organization have partnered to renovate the school’s courtyard. The multi-year project will include a picnic plaza, an amphitheater, a water feature and a garden with green space. People may purchase a commemorative brick to support the courtyard project. Order forms have been sent home with pupils. Contact the school for more information.

• Pupils are asked to send in postcards from places they are vacationing this summer. The postcards will be displayed on a bulletin board in the fall. Be sure to write a couple lines about your vacation. Pupils who send in postcards will be entered into a drawing for a special prize. Address postcards to: Hammond Hill Elementary School, 901 W. • Summer registration is Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parents are asked to come that day to pay school fees, purchase a 2012-13 school T-shirt or complete a lunch application. Parents can also join the school’s PTO on that day.

• Open house will be 2-4 p.m. Aug. 17.

• The first day of school is Aug. 20.

• The third-grade gifted and talented class is creating a South Carolina ‘‘I Spy’’ Garden. Items needed include: a small peach tree, blue granite stones, pieces of amethyst, state flag, lettered olive shells, Yellow Jasmine plants, palmetto trees, collard greens and goldenrod flowers as seeds or plants, and large stepping stones.

• Graduation will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center.

• Final transcripts will be sent after graduation. One request is free through Friday, afterwards each request is $5.

• Graduation tickets will be distributed 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium.

• The Beta Club will travel to the national convention June 27-30.
