Stamp Out Hunger food drive Saturday

The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive will be held Saturday.

Area residents are asked to place non-perishable items such as canned foods, pasta, rice and cereal into a sturdy bag and place it next to their mailbox prior to their regular mail delivery time on Saturday.

Letter carriers will collect the donations along their mail route. All donations will benefit the Golden Harvest Food Bank.

Habitat holds groundbreaking

Habitat for Humanity of North Augusta will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for its next home at 1134 Austin St.

Lilly Gomillion and her family have been selected as the next homeowner, and will spend many hours working on their home with volunteers.

House sponsors are Potash Corp., Bridgestone-Firestone and Walmart of North Augusta.

Bolens announce birth of daughter

Henry and Amber Bolen, of North Augusta, announce the birth of their daughter, Megyn Grace Bolen. She was born March 28 at University Hospital.

Megyn is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Ellis, of Laurens, S.C., and Mrs. Carolyn Bolen and the late Jerry M. Bolen, Jr., of Blackville, S.C.

Elementary school to hold yard sale

Hammond Hill Elementary will be holding a Junk in your Trunk yard sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Vehicles will be parked around the school track and items will be sold out of trunks and on tables.

Movie on the lawn

Drive-In Movie Night is being held at Grace Fellowship, 507 W. Five Notch Road, at 8 p.m. Friday.

Families are invited to come and watch The Muppets for free on the church lawn. Participants should bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

The Booth Brothers perform concert

Immanuel Baptist Church will host The Booth Brothers at 7 p.m. May 31.

Artist circle seating, which is limited, is $15 in advance or $18 at the door. General admission is $10 in advance or $13 at the show. Tickets can be purchased at Anything Goes Gifts in North Augusta, Boots, Bridles and Britches in Aiken or Grovetown, or by phone at (803) 278-4849.

 

Deadline for teacher's banquet

The annual Teacher Appreciation Celebration held by the Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce is 5 to 7 p.m. May 16 at the North Augusta Community Center.

Deadline to sponsor a teacher to attend the banquet for $15 is Thursday. Teachers will receive a note of the gift.
