American Legion to celebrate birthday
This year is the 93rd anniversary of the American Legion, the nation's largest military service group, according to a news release.
American Legion Post 71 in North Augusta will hold its own birthday celebration Friday. Post 71 was founded in 1932, and recently had a new building built on East Spring Grove Avenue.
Special guests, members, auxiliary members, Riders Chapter members and spouses will attend the birthday bash, according to the news release. The guest speaker will be Janet Hicks, the former commanding general of The Signal Center and Fort Gordon. Hicks will speak about her participation in a video that tells personal stories from World War II veterans living in the area.
