Carrie Krebs is looking forward to being a teacher one day.
In the meantime, the Fox Creek High School senior is focusing on learning everything she can from her own teachers.
“Education is really important. No matter what you want to do in life or the goals you want to accomplish, education can help you do it,” said the 18-year-old.
While some students may look at study hall as a free period, Krebs uses the time to study and get ahead on school assignments.
“It helps me a lot,” she said.
Krebs, who ranks in the top 15 of her class, spends on average an hour a day outside of school studying and reviewing what she’s learned.
She spends even more time when she’s preparing papers, large projects and exams.
Her favorite class has been her Math 110 class, a college-level course available to seniors from Piedmont Technical College.
“It’s always challenging,” she said.
She’s also active with the school and with her church.
She is in the National Beta Club and National Honor Society and participates in the Predator Pack, the school’s spirit club.
Krebs has also begun honing her teaching skills by leading a middle school group and a group of 3 year olds at TrueNorth Church.
“I want to teach for a little while and eventually go into children’s ministry,” she said.
She plans to attend North Greenville (S.C.) University.
