Posted: June 12, 2015 - 10:50am

The Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta will hold the Closing Reception for the Riverfront Arts Festival exhibit and Opening Reception for the Passages exhibit on June 25.

The Arts and Heritage Center has an exciting calendar of exhibits and events planned for the summer months. The Riverfront Arts Festival exhibit is now on display in the main gallery. This is a juried art show representing some of the CSRA’s finest artists and is sponsored by Artists Row in Augusta.

The closing reception and awards ceremony for the Riverfront Arts Festival is Thursday, June 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 pm. The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.

Opening that same evening in the balcony gallery is the exhibit Passages, featuring the work of Lou Ann Zimmerman and Lala Mulherin Streett. This exhibit will be on display through August 28.

Lou Ann Zimmerman recently retired as owner of the Zimmerman Gallery on Broad Street where she also had her studio for eighteen years.  She has moved her easel back to her home studio where she can devote less time to managing a business and more time to painting and travel. Zimmerman is a life member and past President of the Georgia Watercolor Society, has served on the Board of Trustees of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, is a Signature Member of the Whiskey Painters of America and is a member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society.

Lala Mulherin Streett received her classical art training and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting from Ringling Art School in Sarasota, Florida. Since graduation, she has worked in the United States and abroad as a designer, professional illustrator and instructor. Streett considers herself a multi-media artist working in most drawing mediums, watercolor, acrylic, oils, and pastels. Her numerous awards and shows have established her as one of the finest colorists in the Southeast. Streett recently moved from the Atlanta area to re-establish her art studio in the Augusta area.

The AHC is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as the 2nd Sunday of each month and is located inside the North Augusta Municipal Building at 100 Georgia Ave. For information, call (803) 441-4380, or visit www.artsandheritagecenter.com.
