The Family Y of Greater Augusta cut the ribbon on its new CrossFit box for the North Augusta branch on Friday. CrossFit is a workout regimen that incorporates varied functional movement at high intensity levels.
“We are looking forward to expanding our CrossFit program as a benefit to our members throughout the CSRA,” said Danny McConnell, president/CEO of the Family Y of Greater Augusta. “With the addition of this CrossFit box in North Augusta, we’re happy to accommodate the needs of CrossFit fans at two locations in the CSRA.”
N.A.Y. CrossFit, the official name of the new CrossFit box at the Family Y of North Augusta, used to function as a small wellness area at the branch. CrossFit is a free member benefit at the Wilson Family Y and the Family Y of North Augusta.
“We’ve seen a growing number of CrossFit fans from within our Y since The Battlefield CrossFit box opened at the Wilson Family Y,” said Tyler Mapel, the senior program director for the Family Y of North Augusta.
The Family Y is a partner agency of the United Way of the CSRA and the United Way of Aiken County.
The Family Y offers programs and services at 12 CSRA facilities, including nine family and wellness facilities, one full-time daycare center, and Camp Lakeside, an 88-acre camp located on Lake Thurmond.
