A North Augusta man was arrested Wednesday after declaring he had set his house on fire because it was possessed, according to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report.
Officers responded to the house fire at 1005 Thurmond Street about 11:20 a.m. A man told an officer that the owner of the home had walked up to him and said: “That house is possessed. I poured a gallon of gasoline on it and set it on fire,” according to the report.
Shortly after, 29-year-old Donald Allen Ginn, was found walking near the intersection of Austin and Weston streets. An officer “asked Mr. Ginn if he knew why he was being stopped, to which he replied his house was on fire,” the report stated.
Ginn was arrested and charged with third-degree arson and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center.
