Hammond Hill Elementary School’s 60th anniversary has brought with it prestigious accolades.

Earlier this school year, the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School and Monday afternoon, it was named one of five 2013 Palmetto’s Finest Schools by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

“The Palmetto’s Finest award winners represent the many innovative schools in our state,” said the association’s executive director Molly Spearman in a news release. “They are community centers of learning where students are given personalized instruction and high expectations.”

Other schools receiving the award are: Fort Dorchester Elementary, Summerville, S.C.; Hanahan Middle School, Hanahan, S.C.; Ashley Ridge High, Summerville, S.C.; and Marrington School of the Arts, Goose Creek, S.C.
