Fire department receives donation

Posted: March 7, 2013 - 6:07pm

The Belvedere Volunteer Fire Department received an equipment donation Thursday to assist it in educating the community about fire safety.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated a Bull-Ex Bullseye Laser-Driven Fire Extinguisher to the department during a presentation ceremony at Firehouse Subs on Knox Avenue. The equipment is worth more than $16,000.

The system will be used to help teach the safe and proper use of fire extinguishers, said Sgt. Shane Fields with the fire department.

Funds from pickle bucket purchases and customer donations made at Firehouse Subs restaurants go to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to help provide funds, equipment and educational opportunities to public safety departments and first responders, said Meghan Bender, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation development manager.
