The 2013 International Quidditch Association Southern Regional Championship is coming to Riverview Park on March 2-3.
The championship, hosted by the Augusta Sports Council and the International Quidditch Association, will include 14 teams from South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi and Tennessee. The teams will compete to advance to the World Cup Quidditch Championship in Kissimmee, Fla.
Quidditch is an adapted game based on the game described in the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling.
Tournament participants will host a Kidditch clinic for youth ages 11 to 18 on March 2 from noon to 2 p.m. Participants will learn about Quidditch basics and get to play in scrimmage games.
The Quidditch tournament will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day on the park’s soccer fields. There is no cost to participate in the Kidditch clinic or to attend the Quidditch tournament.
