David Drakeley provided a home away from home for anyone entering the doors at The Highlander in North Augusta.
“He was like a father and uncle to the staff and to his customers,” said his daughter, Davina Drakeley-Lever. “We’re a big family down there.”
Drakeley died Sunday at 76, but the native of Derby, England, left a legacy that will continue to live inside the walls of his longtime British pub on Georgia Avenue and in the community.
Drakeley-Lever remembered her father as a knowledgeable man who liked to tell stories and talk about history.
